After reading Paul van Hooff’s first book, called – ‘Man in het zadel’ a few years ago, last Friday I read about his new book presentation on Twitter. For everyone not knowing who Paul is, in short: he is a journalist, writer, adventurer, and bike lover. I just had to go and see his presentation in Motoport Wormerveer.

In his stories, he is leaving everything and everyone behind to pursue the raw adventure, free from rules, jobs, stress, and relationship problems. For many, such is only a dream, but Paul (1964) did it. His loyal companion during the trip is ‘Guus’, a Moto Guzzi V7 from 1975.

He traveled from the northernmost of Alaska to the southernmost point of Argentina for his story in ‘Man in het zadel’

For every bike lover or traveler adventurer, a must-read IMO.

Now his new book is out, called – ‘Van hier tot Tokio’. Again a heroic story on his 40-year-old Moto Guzzi. Given his limited budget and poor preparation, it may be a miracle that he has achieved the goal to arrive in Tokyo.

I managed to get a signed version of his new book. Paul dedicated the signature in my copy of the book to my daughter, for her to read the book when she is a little bit older to understand.
